In Miami-Dade County, buildings must be recertified every 10 years after the building's 40th anniversary, and the report must be prepared by a professional engineer or architect within 90 days of receiving the Notice of Required Recertification. Coastal condominium and cooperative buildings three stories or taller built between 1983 and 1997 and located within three miles of the coastline must have a recertification inspection by December 31, 2024, and every 10 years thereafter.
In Broward County, buildings must be recertified every 10 years after the building's 40th anniversary, and the following buildings are exempt: Single-family homes, Duplexes, Buildings less than 3,500 square feet, U.S. government or Florida state government buildings that are built on Indian reservations
