We were out for a fancy family dinner at a high end steak house. None of us would have been there but the granddaughter is working her way up that restaurant group's ladder so she gets some huge discount. IDK the details but we ran up a 700 dollar bill and no one seemed to care, like it was 50 bucks total. That's not a lot more than the tax here.

I mean lobster and filets were flying and I don't eat meat. I'm eating a wimpy pasta dish. Desert was over the top and we were doggy bagging anything that didn't melt. Probably walked out with 3 pieces of cheesecake at 12 bucks a pop.

So I ordered a "dry Manhattan." The waiter didn't flinch but he later let on the both he and the bartender had to look that one up. It WAS smooth but seemed weak. I ordered it 'up'. Looked like a candyass drink.

My parents used to drink all the old cocktails like in "Madmen." Well, my parents drank and smoked like any 50's family that ran a bit loose. Of course they divorced when I was 16.
