3). And WebSeach/SearchBoxSuggestions. Which provides web ads from the start button instead of computer OS information. "Ha ha. Tricked ya. Made you use Edge again! So you're gonna keep using Edge. Right? Right? We will remind you again in case you forgot."

4). And Widgets Feed. Because you wanted to know what's on sale and the latest newz about Tiffany instead of doing actual work.

5). And now Copilot A.I. Combing through all your proprietary data whether you like it or not. May I kindly refer you to past PIPA/SOPA legal judgements regarding the theft of other people's information. Oh, and A.I. has been demanding users worship it like a god.

All of these fundamentally alter the original Operating System purchased after the fact.

Wow, sounds like time to find something new.

I was a die hard Windows fan for a LOONG time (came up from DOS). And I'm a tech guy, so I've tinkered with several versions of linux and have worked with Unix and had dual boot systems.

I defended Windows to lots of folks that complained about it sucking. I've been through Win 2.0, 3.11, Win 95, NT4.0, 98, 98SE, XP, Vista, and Win 7. I held on to Win 7 as long as I could, until it after it was no longer supported. Every version seemed to be better, more stable than the last. I didn't want Win 8 or 10.

I have had an inclination to go Mac but I hear they are invasive as well. What are the facts?
For many, many years, I didn't use anything but the Microsoft malware/defender/malicious software tools, and had great luck with those.

We got my wife a Mac and she asked me to learn it and get it setup and ready for her 10-12 years ago. I fell in love and knew that my next PC would be a MAC. I finally switched from Windows to Mac 4-5 years ago (damn PC wouldn't die).

My experience is that Mac is nothing like Windows seems to have become. I don't feel like it's invasive at all. I had a colleague that had a macbook that would not die. He finally replaced it at 8 years old. I think my wife's macbook lasted about 7 years and it was the cheapest, most low-performance model they made.

I've had great luck with everything Apple that I've had.
