You came after me. Never saw one that I knew of. I assume it's under the suit.
At the end of a race at the scales drivers used to pull their suit off the shoulders and tie the arms at the waist for weighing in while trying to cool off. Supposedly no one could even take a sip of water until weighed.
I think I would have seen rib protectors then if anyone had them. Not that we couldn't have used one!
