H6W halo light socket replacement
This is an FYI based on my research and work. My 996.2 Xenon headlights assembly developed a disintegrated plastic socket for the H6W halogen bulb that rests on the side of the projector and is a marker or aka halo light. Likely failed due to a fault in the bulb and accompanying surge of heat. While there is no Porsche part to replace the H6W bulb socket, this thqbkfully happens to be a common one made by Hella, and which Mercedes provides this part A210-826-05-82 that with some minor electrical work, i.e. cutting the leads to the old socket and adding a couple of female conectors, will produce excellent results. One thing you'll note is that thw new socket only has two leads coming from it but the old Porsche socket has three. Upon further investigation you'll see that two of the wires (brown and red I believe) meet at the brass bulb holder in the socket. Tie and crimp those two wires together at your new female connector. Make sure to insulate the connection terminals before you re-insert the wires into the headlight assembly.
