Me too. I've been wanting a specific C2 Corvette forever, ('65 roadster 327 4-speed), and recently missed out on one private party in NorCal. It was a dream car...black plate/completely original/both tops...asking price was $60k and cash might have gotten it for less. I fell deathly ill for a week immediately after inquiring about it and it sold before I could get up there.
$60k buys you a *who gives a schit* 911SC or 3.2 Carrera in average condition that we've all owned better examples of when they were $10-15k. This Corvette was a really special car, maybe not as much of a daily driver as an old 911 but 100x more desirable, at least to me.
Oh don't get me wrong...I'd still buy another G-body 911 coupe if they were $20k for a really nice one. I like them but that's all they are worth to me. The people paying big $$ for them never owned one back when they were new and think that it's more of an experience than it is, or they are collectors who would buy Beanie Babies or pet rocks if they thought they were going up in value.
