The ongoing evolution of my Gravity Deadeye single-speed continues. I originally built it into a sort of monster cross gravel bike with drop bars but was getting a little bored riding gravel roads. So I decided to go the SS rigid mountain bike route. First ride was this morning and it was fantastic. I did maybe an hour of trail riding this morning (already 80s and humid at 9:30 this morning

) and I was sort of whipped! It was an intense ride not so much because of the heat but this bike requires 100% focus. You have to really look ahead to pick precise lines and evaluate the trail surface. There's no relaxing at all. Look away for a second and you take a direct hit to a tree root or something with nothing to absorb it. I can't wait to get back out. Something to be said for back-to-basics riding for sure. It's light, it's simple, it's super responsive, and it's ninja-like quiet
