Yellowstone is awesome and not too far.
Hawaii is always a hit
Hiking in Utah may be too hot and your kids might complain. It’s on my list, everyone LOVES it.
Costs Rica is amazing
Thailand is amazing not sure about the weather in Sept.
These are all family friendly ideas. And, while they could sound extravagant, you can do all of them pretty reasonably if you score cheap tickets.
