As a growing teenager - my mom had already raised my 3 older sisters that were out of the house - so it was just my Dad, Mom and my younger sister. My mom was tired of cooking right around the time that my growing body was interested in consumption of calories.

One of her "meals" offered for dinner - was a block of spam which she had sliced into 1/4" thick slices and interspersed between each slice, she placed a slice of cheddar cheese of 1/4" thickness which had been cut from the 1 lb block. She placed this in an baker's pan in the oven at 350 until "done."

I periodically joke with my wife about Spam casserole for dinner.
