You don't plug in old radios that have sat not working for years. If that has a transformer you likely toasted it and it's not worth anything more than something to look at and hold that glass lamp.
Did I always know this? Of course not.
Transformers are hard to find and when you do they are spendy. The value of old radios has plummeted to 10 and 20 dollars for table sets and 50 for nice old consoles unless they are already gone through. And then the cost of having one worked by another exceeds any value. I might say greatly exceeds any value. There are a few exceptions, of course.
