Steve, no smart assery was intended. A SA answer would have included you already posting about this issue on one of my movie review threads recently where Paul gave the same answer here in a post on that thread back then.
The MOVIE thread is for ALL movies. Movies from decades ago, current ones and trailers. If I wanted to know about a new movie that just came out, and wasn't subscribed to the thread, it would be difficult to find a review. If you were subscribed to the thread and only cared about new movies, you would be barraged with email updates on every single post. Just click on the last 2 pages of the MOVIE thread and you will see what I mean. Totally random and no reviews.

"The movies that are in theaters now with reviews and commentary" thread. No one needs to be subscribed, anyone can click on the last page, maybe have to go the page before to find reviews and commentary on movies in theaters they are interested in seeing, when they click.
And my posts are pretty rare. I saw 3 movies last week, only Kingdom warranted any kind of review. At most I post 4 times a month about movies I see, I suspect I'm not taxing any Pelican servers or making folks scroll and scroll to find a thread they want to read here on OT, with this volume. --- now that's smart ass.
