But if you want a real vent how about the recession and the fact that all the dealers I repair for are in fear of closing. They sure were friendly when they needed me. But I knew who I was dealing with from the beginning. Antique dealers are used car dealers. I happened to have some good ones, but when things go south I'm the one left behind.
I've sat through recessions at least 5 times so I know what the next 2 years are going to be. All my tools and machines are for sale. I won't be in need of them when I'm 81 and things come back.
Old and facing a depression = get the hell out. How's that? One car gone and I don't need a truck any longer. It goes next. I've got enough moving gear for a small moving company but I'll be keeping that. It will be needed. Time to leave the sewer.

Is this a broad economy thing, or that tastes are shifting from older antiques to "Mid Century Modern" stuff? Around here, you can't give away so-called "brown furniture", but anything "Danish" from the 60s/70s is flying off the shelves so to speak.
