Why would you want sporty, for an interstate cruiser that is going to become a "ski house car?" This makes no sense. Is this your first road trip ever? I only ask because as someone with a lot of experience, there is nothing sporty about driving across the USA, twice. It's all interstate, some of it more interesting than others but mostly flat and straight. If you leave the interstate, it's all county roads and 2 lane highways with stop signs every mile or two. Very few places have curvy mountain roads.

It's all about making time through the boring parts, (most of it), and not getting speeding tickets or god forbid, crashing. Any super status type vehicle will get you nothing but unwanted attention in the heartland, including some hate. An expensive new SUV or PU truck is fine anywhere, as long as it's domestic. I recently spent most of a year in northern Wisconsin, I know what I speak of. You want to blend in. Affording nice things is alright but I found the people more image conscious than in the big city and not in a good way...they are nosey.

just buy some nice SUV and it will be the best over the road vehicle and best ski vehicle. Done. Most affluent people don't take road trips, they fly everywhere. Road trips in the USA are hours and days of abject boredom punctuated by brief periods of awe inspiring beauty. Unless you're driving through California, which is spectacular.
