crank/rods

So im test fitting a rod on a crank. When i have the crank horizontal and i turn the rod on the journal, i can hear it slightly touch the crank on the sides at times, i believe its called the thrust . If i have the crankshaft vertical, where the gravity is pushing the rod down against one side of the crank thrust, and i spin the rod, i hear it rubbing / touching even more.

Is this normal?

or should it be silent with no touching? I have clearance as I can move the rod side to side a bit, which i suspect is normal.. but not sure if clearance is even all the way around.

how could i determine if the bore on the big end is square with the rod. Would that cause it to rub? It was resized by a machine shop but is there a way to double check?

thanks in advance
