If that doesn't work, then someone may have not put the button setup in the handle correctly. There is a nylon washer that needs to go in there. Try unscrewing the button some and try again.

Finally got back to car from holiday. You were dead on Kd. Unscrewed the button a few turns and the brake went right down. Much appreciated!
