I volunteer with a local C&C group and we have some strict and reasonable rules in place. Our priority is a safe event. Law enforcement is welcome any time (and they often stop by just to look). We've constrained entrance/exit to a single point so that the local LEO can park / watch / pick-off the bad actors if they so choose.
Incidents like what's in that article are what concern me with regards to our event; I hope to never see that...
