computer virus
I was researching seat belts for my '65 Mustang. I clicked a link and Boom! I was getting continual pop ups/chimes saying that my laptop has a virus. I don't have anti-virus software. My McAffee expired long ago. I normally get these pop ups from MarketWatch and various Youtube channels I subscribed to which appear in the lower right corner.
But now, the pop ups were appearing continually, stacking on each other, saying that my Norton was expired, that my McAffee was expired, I had a Trojan Horse, etc. I re-upped McAffee for $50 which didn't do any good. I reverted to a prior Restore Point, which also did no good. I re-installed Chrome. Chrome said I was getting lots of notifications from (something)warmth.(something). I don't remember, I should have got a screenshot but didn't. But Chrome gave an option to block notifications from this sender. I clicked it, and just like that the pop ups stopped.
Apparently, some dirtbag is able to hijack or mimic the notification feature and McAffee and Widows Defender don't see any problem. Anybody know anything about this? Is it a Trojan? A worm? Some other type of virus? Is this new?
