Thanks for this photo, Skip. On my most recent carb rebuild, (an '84 not the '83 but same carbs) I didn't keep track of each carb's parts I was reusing - like the springs. Got in a hurry and messed up, so at some point considering another tear down to get everything sorted properly.
In addition to the springs I think there are a couple other components that differ on the front carbs from the rears. Still researching it.
Right now on the '84 I'm troubleshooting a starter issue. Will pull the lower radiator tomorrow and see what's going on.....
