Those youtube aviation "will it start" shows
As I'm always thinking about getting a pilot's license one of these days (lapsed for 30y), I've been watching more Youtube shows related to ATC and General aviation, and fell down a rabbit hole of those "Found the cheapest bonanza in the US, will it start? will it make it home" shows...
There's plenty of them, where they find cheap airplanes and we get treated to a "will it start video", what looks (to me) like a casual check of oil and plugs, and sooner than you think a ferry permit appears to be issued and they take a possibly risky flight to homebase on something that hadn't flown in a while.. They all seem to be taking big chances for views, and almost each of them crashed at least once...
Jimmy's world is one, I think he once bought a twin that turned out to have a rotten spar or something equally terrifying after the fact... still flew it home first..
There's those rich kids (JR aviation), I honestly keep waiting to hear bad news about...Their pilot(s) seem good but either they dramatize stuff or it's a crash waiting to happen...
There's rebuild rescue, where the lead pilot got killed after crashing in of the planes they "rescued" if I'm not mistaken - I cannot quite believe they're still on the air - wondering if the FAA is taking a long time investigating who's responsible, ultimately..
There was the TNflygirl crash, poof, dead, no more you tube... shocking...
Seems pretty casual to me, in contrast with all the hoops and costs of annuals on airplanes.. You guys watching these ? Seem safe to you ?
