As I started prepping the car for the concours I recalled that I had lost the majority of my points in the engine bay so I pulled out the score sheet from last year to review what I had missed. Majority of it was cleaning in crevices but one of the items on the score sheet was the trunk latch. As I only had a couple of weeks to get it tidied up I didn’t have enough time to pull it, clean it and have it sent out for plating. So I scrambled to get one on order and it arrived just in time.

The procedure to swap them was relatively simple. I started by using some blue painters tape and I placed it around the edge of the existing latch so I knew where to locate the new latch. I then placed the two latches side by side and noted that the new latch was shorter than the old one so I adjusted it to match the old one. I then installed the new latch and tested it. Works like a charm and actually latches better than my old one.

I will still send out the old one to get it replated and reinstall it since the new version is slightly different.

Here are some before, during and after pictures.
