May of 2015 my Son made a run to Portland and came home with most of a 1971 Triumph Trophy that had more than it's share of mods.
Tank and side coves were good, fenders were horrendous and got replaced then all of it painted at a shop that's walking distance away.
Son and I decided on more of a Bonneville look rather than the high piped Trophy it was born as, glad we did!
It's been a long but fun project... found a used 750 motor, fitted it fought and fought to get it started with multiple compression starting runs down the hill next to us.
That also entailed multiple Father/Son pushes back up the hill, good times.
It finally fired up and ran for a glorious 2 minute before grinding it's self to a halt and not turning over smoothly.
Found a 66' 650 recently rebuilt. Popped it in and it runs great, good torque for a 650, cackles and pops at all the right times.
Pulled it all back apart leaving the motor and replaced the harness with a brand new one, changed from positive to negative ground as God intended and replaced the points, Zanier diode thingie and regulator with electronic versions.
Very comfortable seating, a good bit on the vibrating side and it handles superb for a 53 year old machine and a 58 year old motor.
The double shoe front hub looks cool but demands a serious squeeze to come close to locking.
My 83 Interceptor can lock the front tire with two fingers.
