Looking up Arborists near me only leads to people who would cut the tree down. A feature of Google I guess. I do have another tree in the back yard that has a cracked branch that is partially over the garage, so maybe I can find one to look at the front tree when they remove the limb on the back tree. I thought about doing it myself, but a 8:12 pitch and my age could lead to a bad day.
Now that the rain has stopped and I can get a good look at the tree, yes, it did drop some leaves, but it's not even half the tree at this point. I'm going to keep an eye on it. At least this year it didn't dump a garbage can worth of seeds on the driveway.
We had some pretty bad storms this spring, and maybe that stressed the tree more than the hole. A similar sized tree down the block came down during one of the storms. It took out power for the whole neighborhood.
