Bummer that you had the issues with the hood. You probably had minimal deductions on all other categories. You will get a perfect score next time!!
The RUF’s are my concours wheels since they’re in great shape and much easier to clean. . The car showed really well, zero points in the engine, .3 in the interior. .4 on the gas cap area (apparently too much 303 on the rubber flap) and zero on the exterior.

I spent a lot of time prepping my driver 964 C2 for our local concours and with the fikse wheels it was a nightmare cleaning job. Drove the car in the rain to the event and had limited cleaning time. Great news they didn't ding me for any brake dust but they were kind enough to ding me for no wheel dressing on my tires. I had dressed them before the drive but it washed off in the rain. I had a perfect exterior score except 4 point deduction for no wheel dressing when we were instructed 1/10 point deductions. My tires were clean and it should have been .4 deduction tops which would have given me 2nd palce. The consensus was I have too many trophies so give someone else a chance. LOL I was happy to see Eric and his gorgeous 993C2S take first. His second Concours with his beautiful car.

The worlds most subjective sport. We must be crazy to do this but the cars do get lots of attention which is nice to see. Trophies are just the icing the real prize is the admiration.

Car looks great as always.
The secondary hood release is top on my list for both the front and rear, is it just the cable or is there something else needed? Where does the cable run through?

Bummer on the rain, that always makes for a miserable and frantic cleanup. A 4 point deduct on the tires is absurd though, either they truly didn’t want you to win or the judge was clueless. One could also argue that Porsche didn’t ship the cars out of the factory with dressing on the tire so a clean tire would be a more accurate representation. I’ve actually had judges tell me not to use product on the tires after I lost some points for a dirty tire but I just don’t like the look and I’ve found a way to keep the tires clean.

Your last comment about sharing these cars with people that appreciate them is truly one of the primary reasons I continue to show in concours. The car gets a huge amount of attention and love from enthusiasts of all ages and it’s fun to discuss the details on care, prep and the options. The color combo also draws lots of attention. There’s always the occasional comment about the Q-Tips and craziness but it’s hard to deny that a properly prepped car is admired by everyone. The trophy’s are a nice reminder of the event more than anything else.
