BMW recall

I got an email a few weeks ago about a recall for the PCV valve heater. They gave 3 days and times to bring it in and have the work done free of charge. I think it shorts out and can cause a fire. My car is an '07 with 252K miles.

Drove to the dealership this morning, they said it would take a few hours, they called an Uber for me to go to work. Work done, they called an Uber for me to bring me back. Work was done, car washed, interior vacuumed and detailed. Cleanest it's been all year.

All for free.

They of course went through the car and listed work it needs, all of which I knew and have parts on the shelf for. Check these prices out!

Leaking rear shock, replace as a pair, $2548.71

That is the biggest shocker on the list. I've done it in the past, it's 2 hours for both sides, my special Sachs were $200 for the pair I think.

Rear trunk tailight assembly, $$719.34

I have one coming, original factory mfg, it was $145 shipped from FCP, it should take 10 minutes being careful to put in.

'Front fog light assembly, $504.14

I broke some tabs getting it out when doing headlight bulbs, they are $30 new and again 10 minute to put in

There's a few more things like an oil change for $221, which I did 10o miles ago with Liqui Moly and that was about $100 shipped

Two takeaways:
Can't believe I was treated like a new 7 series owner for a recall for a 17 year old car

Can't believe anyone has their out of warrantee BMW serviced by a dealer
