I have the double din Pioneer units in both my diesel truck and 4 runner. They are great and simple to use. I am one of those guys that wouldn't replace anything unless it isn't working. The both both went out within a year of each other so I was glad I replaced them. I will check out Rod, thanks.

I'm not likely to ever buy a new Porsche, but I would love to hear/own one with the "Burmester" sound system.
I was shocked at how good things sounded with the new head unit and amp. The head unit (double din touch screen) includes a thing where you connect a microphone, and then get out of the car, the stereo then plays reference sounds listening to the input from the microphone and adjusts various settings. You can then tweak the settings (which I did). That setup and tweaking made a huge difference.

Yeah, I have done similar for my car when the door woofers went bad. I ended up replacing them with Porsche OEM speakers. They sound good for $95/ea and were a quick and easy bolt-in replacement. I'm sure that I could get some amazing aftermarket speakers, but then I'd have to deal with rigging the installation.
Rod Birch @ CAI sells a speaker package and adapters, but they are Focals or something like that, and spendy.
