Throwing in a big thanks to William Knight.
I bought a '74 911 that was missing the engine and transaxle. I ended up with a useable '83 915 and a 1980 3.0 engine that needed to be rebuilt.
I did a stock rebuild, but was disappointed in the engine performance...
Subsequently, the engine developed an oil leak @ the #8 main bearing and I had to tear the engine back down.
I researched 3.0 performance mods and found William's M1 cams that work with the CIS injection. I decided to take a gamble (not inexpensive) since multiple people seemed pleased. I figured that if I still wasn't happy with the engine's performance, I would just sell the car.
Breaking it in again now... I'll be keeping this car!
I'm really surprised that making this one change has made such a difference.
I had an '89 Carrera and was unimpressed with the acceleration. Likewise, the 3.0 with stock cams...
Now I'm going to need to work on the car's handling.
Or, perhaps, also my driving skills...
