We have a pair and I presume a nest pair of of Mississippi Kites in our area. Yesterday while mowing the grass on was just 10 or 15 feet above my head, chasing a bug. They eat mostly insects. One landed in our back yard this morning likely checking out the Koi pond for bugs.
First a turkey, and now a kite so far this year. We have had Blue Herons having an expensive Koi meal. They are large birds! It is against Federal law to harass them, but fortunately our dogs don't know the law and they chased it off before it got all the Koi.
