Rtrorkt, Jerry passed this last week. Back in the eighties there was a small Italian restaurant
and bar in Tacoma Wa called Prositos Jerry used to play every wednesday nite. Small music
room about the size of someones large living room. Got there about 9:00 PM. About a 1/2
hour later Jerry walks in with Stephen Stills. For the next 3 hours it was an incredible night
of music, I'll never forget it. He would usually play the song I posted above Now I See after
midnight. To hear it live was amazing. Many years later he was telling the story about 8:05.
His wife/ girlfriend ? at the time was living up here in Tacoma. They were splitting up. He was
driving across the Golden Gate Bridge and writing the song in his head. He looked down at his
watch and it was 8:05 hence the name. He was playing the local bars here on a weekly basis
up until he passed. Years ago I was able to buy his CD, Life is Like That at an event he was
playing. Now out of print. Great CD, The Now I See song is on that CD. For those that are not
familar with Moby Grape and Jerry, they were hugely influential to many of the great guitarists
and bands of the era. Every now and then 8:05 is played on one of the local FM stations I listen
too.
