This is way we do it. We're talking steam here. Pot with tight lid. Bare corn (no husks) in pot, warm water, maybe 1 inch, not much more. Corn in pot. Lid on tight. Heat on high, bring to high boil. Once it boils maybe 2 minutes, (a little more if you're distracted) maximum. Corn is done. Remove with tongs and put lots of butter on it. Yum.
