A couple years ago, on my Fit, I had my serp belt break and had to change it by myself. Didn't have the long handle tool to hold it back, so I McGyvered up some wrenches and blocks of wood to hold it in place while putting the new one on.
I never saw a hole in the adjuster....but I wasn't looking or aware of one.
The method he shows wouldn't work if the old belt snapped.
