Ah, seems I was off by a year. The early drawings are different layout (and kind of busy as both crankcase halves are on it ..).
PET drawing 101-05 "crankcase" for years 65-69 lists part #64 "temperature sensor" as 901.741.632.00 for -68, and 901.641.632.00 for 69-.
PET drawing 101-05 "crankcase" for years 70-73 shows part #65 "temperature sensor" as 901.641.632.00. So same as 69-up.
PET drawing 101-10 "crankcase right" post-74 shows part #28 "temperature sensor" 901.641.632.00, with 911.606.112.00 indicated for 77-up motor types 911/81/85/94 and 930/02/52/53/54.
So it's actually 69-76, rather than 70-76.
PET drawing 101-10 for 75-77 Turbo shows part #28 as 901.641.632.00 - so that is also the same.
78-up PET drawing 101-10 shows part #28 as 911.606.112.00, with 901.641.632.00 indicated for "SC", with the remark "SPM" - which someone more astute than myself observed almost certainly meant "Sportomatic".
(It's always been unclear to me what that "SPM" annotation implies - does it mean "unless Sporto", "Sporto only", "you might have a Sporto"- what, exactly?)
PET drawing 101-10 used for 84-89 also gives part #24 as 911.606.112.00 - so the 3.2 temp sender is the same as '77 911 and 78-up 3.3 930s.
And I believe everything else post-68 - eg 69-76 911s, 75-77 930s & 78-83 SCs use 901.641.632.00
So I believe from that the SC sender 78-83 is 901.641.632.00 - and should be compatible with 69-74 911 temperature gauges, or gauges from the 75-77 3.0 930s...
Because, otherwise, if the SC sender wasn't different - then everything from 77-89 would use the 911.606.112.00 sender. The logical extension being that SC and 3.2 temp gauges and/or senders would Just Work if you swapped them around. And plenty of folks seem to indicate they don't read correctly if you do that.
So the corrected listing would seem to be:
901-741-632-00: 911 1965-68
901-641-632-xx: 911 1969-76, 930 1975-77, 911s 1978-83 (SC)
911-606-112-00: 930 1978-89, 911 1977, 1984-89 911 (3.2).

My PET gives 901.741.551.01 for "pressure transmitter" 65-73, 911.606.111.00 for 74-77 (including 930), 911.606.111.01 for 78-83 and 911.606.135.00 for 84-89.
