I had ceramic tint installed. Virtually clear, no darkening of the windows whatsoever. But it is said to effectively block UV and infrared rays.
I have no objective temperature comparisons. However, placing your hand on the top of the dash after the car's been in the sun for a while shows a noticeably cooler temp than without the tint.
There are several materials used for this tint. Be sure to get one that is ceramic based, as they have the highest numbers for their heat-blocking ability. Here's a Car and Driver article on the various available tint materials:
