After spending lots of unpleasant time trying to get all the surfaces as clean an possible and still realizing that I'll need a serious sandblaster to finish the job, I'm going to focus on just getting enough undercoating and paint off to identify areas of rust significant enough that it would change the overall budget or approach that I need to take.

Now I need to find someone locally that can do the sandblasting.

I did clean up the area around the torsion tube. There's some areas that will need patches, but it doesn't look too bad overall.
