My early 1960s Wilton vice only has 4 inch wide jaws. I’m fabbing up something to make it 6 inches wide. So far, I’ve got two sets of 1 inch pieces and I’m waiting on some 2 inch angle iron. When I get the angle iron, I’ll cut, grind and weld everything up, but make it reversible. I’m also trying to think of some ways to make some hash marks on the face of the angle iron, to grip things. Making the vice jaws wider, will allow me to hold bigger pieces vertically.
My mid-1940s drill press made easy work of drilling the parts.
Also, on my 330ci street/track car, I have a Momo steering wheel and that removed the cruise control knobs. The BMW Z4 cruise control stalk works perfectly with my steering column and clock spring. I just need to connect three wires to make it operational.
