In line for tickets and kid says "I smell a pig" and he was down in three seconds and out the door to spend the weekend with some new friends.
What the kid in the YouTube video said was more flagrant than that. Did the police have more latitude then than now or were laws changed? Federal or state law? It baffles me that the public can speak to authority in such a disrespectful manner.

Freedom of speech is protected under the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, so non-threatening verbal abuse of a police officer is not in itself criminal behavior
