To the OP...what a great memory jogger...the things I forget!
I flew with a guy in my first squadron in San Diego that was WAAYY into the mail service arrows, beacons, etc.
I didn't believe him (mid '80's folks) so on a detachment to Fallon we flew some of the arrows along Route 50 in Nevada..they are real and they are, frankly, just interesting

Cool. I now know someone that's seen them. I'm guessing that they are probably visible in Google maps. I've been wondering about finding (probably some web page with a list of links) the ones in Texas and FL.
