Yes those vocals are top notch. Yes, musicians can do some amazing things. Looping is a powerful too, including and especially to showcase the talent and creativity of a single performer. I've had the pleasure to see Jet Black Pearl twice now. Sort of offbeat, but fun. She does it all in front of a live audience. She might start a song by building some multi-track (looped) rhythm sounds, like drums and whatnot, that she makes with her mouth and whatever assorted tools she has (but not actual drums). Throughout most songs she then plays accordion, usually, since this is sort of a one-man-band instrument anyway, though she sometimes incorporates other instruments. Each time she does a verse or chorus she records it and when she plays it back again later in the song, she adds another vocal layer. By the time she finishes a song she's got three part harmony on the verses and four-part on the choruses. Plus, she is just fun to watch. Her delightful personality is infectious.
