[QUOTE=DGI;12320590]Took my first ride today! 20 min around some side streets in my neighborhood.
Bike performed well. I did the best I could given I havent been on two wheels in over 4 years.
It was a bit soft and wallowy but that could be how the bike is currently setup.
Throttle at low speeds is stable. Bike doesnt like to be bogged down.
Noticed the bike didnt take left turns as easily as right turns. Was told to make sure steering damper isnt binding… need to dig deeper
DGI,
I have a 2004 R1100s Prep. I have a little more mileage at 60,000. I have Wilber shocks front and rear. I have always loved how planted the bike is.
That being said, last year I was having a problem with my bike not wanting to turn left like it always seemed too. My first thought was something serious must be worn or loose. I put it away for a few days and spent time riding my other bike. I started to think about tires and looked to see how many miles were on them. They had about 6,000 miles. I looked at them and they were wearing unevenly on the front. I looked at my other bike and it was doing a similar thing. I decided to put new tires on both bikes.
When I rode the BMW with the new tires it was beautiful again. My point is don't rule out the tires. They affected my bike more than I have ever felt in all the years I have been riding.
