Interesting, but it makes sense. When you've got a wooden cart with little to no suspension or give, used to carry tons of rock, you probably don't want that cart bouncing around a lot, and you don't want it to get stuck in cracks or holes. The best way to keep the ride smooth is to make the wheels huge.
