Check out the Dewalt website or the big box stores, and compare photos to what you've got. Look the thing over carefully. I suspect you'll be able to spot whether it's "close, but not quite."
My guess is that you got one of the returns.

Drill came in a sealed box and battery a sealed clamshell.
They match well with my other Dewalt stuff and if counterfeit they did a great job.
He was also breaking up kits and selling stuff individually.
