I put a steel ring on the outside of my case and the phone absolutely will not fall.
The newer generation of cases have the ring built in and is no longer needed. My 79 SC is fairly stiff. And if you’ve ever visited the suburbs of NYC you know the roads absolutely suck but I can attest my phone is rock solid with a charging mag-safe mount.
