I've had several mixups over the years, but it's still probably less than 0.1% compared to orders, and they've always fixed the glitch by shipping me a replacement promptly for free usually without wanting the return back.
When we lived in Houston, I think we qualified for super speedy shipping (something crazy like 4 hours or maybe even 2 hours). I think orders to the kids' houses often get a choice of either the next morning or next afternoon. We live in the boonies, (still only ~50 miles from a big warehouse or two) but there aren't enough people in our area to qualify for Amazon shipping so everything either comes USPS or more rarely UPS, and is usually 2 days. If I ordered half a dozen things now (Mon evening), I'd probably get them all Wed and/or Thu (depending upon the warehouse they are in). I'm OK with the 2 days.
I don't think I've ever received an empty box. I think I might have received a box once that was supposed to have 8-10 items, that had 1 item missing, and Amazon made it right.
That's one of the great things about where we live, no porch pirates. And that's with the boxes being left at a closed gate 60-75' from the front of the house along the road. But, this is the country and Texas and most folks have a pretty extreme lead allergy...
