Fun fact.....they had a weather station at the top of the South Dade Landfill (maybe 200 ft above sea level). It was designed/rated to withstand 250 MPH winds! It failed when Andrews eye-wall passed through.

Another fun fact....The National Weather Service Hurricane Center was located in a run of the mill 5 story office building on US1 in Coral Gables. Nearly across the road from Univ. Of Miami where I worked. The place was destroyed by Andrew. All their roof top antennas and satellite equipment was wiped off. After Andrew they built a concrete fortress down the road at FIU.
