Went to Springfield for lunch

Since we moved 60 miles west, I don't go back to Springfield often. Once a year to the dentist and once in a while to talk to my insurance agent has been about it.
But Vic and I went back yesterday (for reasons I won't mention in PPOT) and had lunch at one of the Creole places. It was a lot like our experiences eating in Mexico, right here in Ohio(but not as tasty).
I was expecting PoBoys and Gumbo on the menu, but what they had was probably more authentic Haitian fare. Almost everything on the menu included a pound of rice and beans and some plantain. I don't like plantain and Vicki doesn't like rice (or beans), but we persevered. I didn't know what Griot was, had to look it up on my phone because the waiter didn't speak good enough English and I speak no Creole (shades of our Mexican experiences). It is braised pieces of pork butt with a spicy sauce on the side. So we both ordered Griot - with rice and beans and plantain.
I was intrigued by the hot dogs with spaghetti on the breakfast menu, but next time we are going to the other Creole place that DOES have PoBoys and Gumbo.
