Universal Studios is an excellent backdrop for our P-cars and provided for stunning photography but honestly I found Luft10 to be overall very underwhelming. Compared to the Air/Water show in Newport, this was significantly less fun and less appealing. I think the main reason is that the organizers of Luftgekult forgot what the most important part of this entire event is. Luftgekult is not actually about the cars. It’s about the people who love these cars and spend tons of energy and time to make these cars the way we want and keep them roadworthy for decades longer than typical cars would ever endure. Due to the lack of space at Universal Studios, 60% of cars submitted for the event were rejected. Now maybe it’s a matter of sour grapes for me since I was one of the rejected cars, but as I walked through the show I saw so many vehicles that were not at all well prepped vehicles, some with patina (aka rust and dents) that looked terrible and honestly pissed me off to think someone on a selection committee could think a piece of junk like this could somehow be a better car to display at this event than my car which I’ve spent years turning into an absolutely stunning daily driver sports car. I’m sure I’m not alone when I felt this way as the parking lot was jammed packed with stunning air cooled beauties that would put many of the show cars to shame. If I pay $200+ for a car show plus drive 3hrs from home and pay for a hotel, I want to see nicer cars than my own, not garbage. Anyway just my two cents FWIW, maybe I’m being unreasonable..I dunno…just was not a fun show. On a more positive note here are a few examples of the very nice cars I saw there. And of course the Singers and Gunther Werks were absolutely stunning.
