I'm showing my age a bit, but I still remember seeing the 1968 World series team (my hero Al Kailine especially) which also included Mickey Lolich, Bill Freehan, and of course Denny McLain among many others.
Heck, I still have my "Al Kaline" signature little league bat from bat day at the old Tiger Stadium as well as several photo pennants, including one from '68.

I was there a few times in the 68 season, it was a long trip back then...had to take Grand River Drive most of the way from GR. No x-way back then.
I was there with my g'pa and father for McClains 30th win.
I watched the 68 series from home after school....WS games were mostly all day games back then. Lolich was the hero....three complete winning games. (I think that record still stands)
During the 84 season, I was there for many games. The best one was the 5th and final game of the World Series. The place was electric. My brother was along and he still has a clump of the outfield grass in his freezer. (thrown by someone who rushed the field after the Tigers got the final out.
Gibson hit two HR's, one landed just a few rows in front of us....the one off of Goose Gossage.
