Was at my NW WI retreat to fish and close late last week/weekend. Colors were at or just past peak when I arrived. By the time I headed home yesterday, the popples had all dropped their leaves and the only colors were the oaks, few maples and tamarack.
Had to drive to Hayward early Friday morning and the scenery was very, very nice with the morning sun illuminating everything Made me happy that I did not wait until this weekend to travel north.
Couldn't buy a Bass, Pike or Crappie. However, the Bluegills, especially larger Gills were on bloody fire. (Not too proud to fish Gills) We boated over 100 in a couple of hours on Saturday morning before having to quit due to other commitments. They were still going strong Sunday morning. The views on the lake were spectacular.
