Back from an adventure that started on the 101 at Kalaloch and continued down to Morro Bay before cutting inland to visit our son in Pasadena.
Took us 2 weeks of beach walks and the Redwoods to get down to Pasadina and 2 days to get back on the 5. Our routine heading down is a partial day of driving then 2 nights in various places.
After Kalaloch we hit Cannon Beach, Brookings, Klamath and Morro bay.
Weather this time of year is iffy at best, we were super lucky and had rain on the days we were driving. Brookings was pretty socked in but cleared up mid day so we could see the sights.
Crescent Lake, 12 miles long and 624' deep
Miles of beach to walk either direction from Kalaloch lodge
Referred to as "the tree of life" still hanging on somehow and alive
Found the remains of 2 whales during our meandering, 1 at Kalaloch, a 2nd in Oregon. these are back bone discs scattered about, the rest of what was left was not photogenic and smelled awful from 60 yards away
Lunch with a view
Lunchtime Raven hoping for a hand out... nope!
