I’m not a big TV watcher, so it bothers me I’ve become addicted to a show. It’s been on the air since 2008 and in it’s 18th season, and I’ve only just begun watching it.

The Murdoch Mysteries is set in turn of the century Toronto Canada. The production value is very good, I love the attention to detail in the period costumes and technology.
The producers/writers do a great job incorporating events and notable people of the time into the storyline. The Great Toronto Fire of 1904, the 1904 Olympics, Mark Twain, Thomas Edison, Nikolai Tesla, and Guglielmo Marconi to name a few.
Well written, and acted it is nice to get a flavor of life in Canada 125 years ago.
Particularly enjoyable is the lead character Detective William Murdoch who is an inventor on the side and uses period correct technology to create modern technology. For example the “Weaponized Capacitor” which was a taser gun using 1900s technology.
Also using period correct technology built a lie detector.
Lots of action and plot twists, we are really enjoying this series.
