Talking out my butt here, but with full warm-up
the fuel-air system should switch to a closed loop, meaning the CPU determines that and timing.

I first suspect a clogged Cat.
It's not breathing when the the tailpipe gets blocked.
Use an infrared thermometer before and after the Cat pipe connectors.
It should be 50-100deg after.
Meaning stuff is burning up as it should.
Strong pulse at the exit is mandatory....
Replace the old muffler if needed.
I had an '84 Tercel which barely ran until a sudden 'pop'.
Boom.
Instant TRD powwwa again.
The tailpipe was cracked before the muffler.
The >5yo
Midas muffler was completely clogged inside and had rusted out.
